intransigent \in-TRAN-suh-juhnt; in-TRAN-zuh-juhnt\, adjective:Uncompromising; irreconcilable; not capable of being swayed or diverted from a course; unsusceptible to persuasion.

Intransigent is from the French intransigeant, from Spanish intransigente, from in-, not (from Latin) + transigente, present participle of transigir, to compromise (from Latin transigo, transigere, to come to an agreement, from trans-, across + ago, agere, to drive).

"Oreo's intransigent begging at the dinner table usually results in her getting crated; she achives the virtual opposite of her very desire."
